Moscow Cup has started! | 2008-02-10 16:34:27 |
Moscow Cup has started at this Saturday (February 09).
This time we decided to try 5 rules simultaneously (RIF, Jonsson, Sakata, Taraguchi and Yamaguchi, i.e. the classic rule plus top 4 rules in the voting at last RIF GA) combining them by the rejection system (before the start of a game players alternately reject opening rules until only one set of opening rules will remain).
The tournament system is very simple. Two groups, four top players from each group go to quaterfinal.
I played my first game with Mikhail Kazarin. He is from Podyuga but lives in Moscow now. Mikhail is a quite strong player but he did not play in last Moscow championship and it was his first game by new opening rules. So, I had an advantage in an experience.
After rejecting of rules the Jonnson rules were remained. I proposed Indirect 11, Mikhail made a swap, I made the 4th move over 2nd and proposed three 5th alternatives. |

Mikhail chose white and I made three 5th moves. After this Mikhail thought deeply. |
|
|
In this position f8 and i7 are well known winning moves. The move 5-g9 is a bit stronger than 5-j7 but 5-j7 is more interesting and tricky. Therefore I had decided to try this move.
The decision was right. Mikhail made a losing move immediately: 6-? |
|
Black had demonstrated an easy winning attack. |
|
Another losing 6th move that seems to be very strong but black block the foul attack of white, surround white stones and win. |
The correct 6th moves for white are |
|
or |
|
(transfer to Indirect 12: 1-1, 2-6, 3-5, 4-4, 5-3, 6-2). In both cases the position is equal.
After some minutes I have started my second game with Vladimir Sinitsyn. For Vladimir it was his first game by new rules too (like for Mikhail).
After rejecting of rules the Taraguchi rules were remained. Vladimir put 2nd direct stone, I put Direct 7. Vladimir had decided to avoid my preparations and transferred the game into Indirect 3. I thought some time about the possibility to put five fifth alternatives but I was not completely sure in this. Therefore I had decided that it will be better to make a swap, forcing Vladimir to make 5th move and to choose a color. Vladimir made 5th move that gave advantage to black, therefore I chose black surely. |

Vladimir is thinking in this moment at photo.

8th move is not strongest and 10 is a losing move. I had implemented an easy win in style of Direct 4.
So, the first day was easy for me but it was mainly because my opponents played their first games by new rules. Definitely, in following days they will demonstrate more advanced and strong skill of playing! |
