The multi-language system is nice!
The next things can be helpful additionally:
1. It would be good to think about possibilities of a convenient translation system. For example, if somebody (the author or other person) think that this topic can have interest at other language then this person pushes the button "translate", the copy of the topic is created and this person only translates the text with the same structure of photos and diagrams. The author will be the same, of course, the name of a translator is given too. Links to original/translated text will be very proper. The discussion list it is reasonable to have join for all versions. I don't know is it easy to implement. This tool is important since some players in the private discussion with me were ready to write some analyses but only the language problem stopped them. At the same time it will be hard for me to input all their materials but it will be quite possible to translate only text if it will be many diagrams and few words.
2 Some persons told me that for them it is very important to have a notification on answers by e-mail since it is not convenient for them to visit blogs every day. |

The #2 system will be implemented very soon. About #1, I have not studied much about the translation software yet. As I know, most automated translations are not good. What is your suggestion? I think manual translation will be too time-consuming. |

If you think the manual translation idea can become popular, then I will think how to implement it.
One problem of manual translation is... what if the original article changes after translation (or is even deleted)? What happens then? |

I had in a view a manual translation. Of course, in general, it takes a lot of time but it's reasonably to translate only some important articles preferably with many diagrams and a few words. For only text articles it's not the problem to translate an article creating a new topic.
Concerning the changing or deleting of an article, I thought about it too. I had not a solution yet. We don't need to implement it immediately but, for example, it would be proper for me to translate 1-2 my articles with many diagrams into Russian in order to attract other Russian players. |

I have just finished the e-mail support of the comments system. Under "My Profile" you can check the option by which the comments to your topics will be sent to your email address.
Very soon there will also be an option to modify personal information, including email addresses, etc. |

Now the option of changing the personal information has been added to My Profile. |

Frank Arkbo sent me the modification of Renlib Applet, now it will not capture the focus every 5 seconds any more, therefore it is possible now to edit the articles conveniently without being interrupted with lost focus.
Thanks to Frank! |

I just finished one big step in renjunet games re-structuring - now it is possible to publish games with different rules. The search function allows you to find the games by the opening rule you are interested in. The gomoku games are now under gomoku rule.
By default, all existing rules in renjunet got the RIF rule. I have already renamed gomoku tournaments and their games into gomoku rule, also, I renamed last Moscow Cup and its games. But I have not searched if there are any more non-RIF rule games.
If there are any, please help me modify the rule setting for those tournaments and games. Perhaps the original publisher of such non-RIF games can do it the fastest.
From now on, the Statistics page (http://www.renju.net/media/statistics.php) will represent the RIF rule games. As soon as all non-RIF games are renamed properly, that statistic page will become very accurate. |

Thank you, Ando. I have changed also opening rules in games of Moscow Championship 2007.
Some technical questions.
1. In some rules (Taraguchi, Jonsson, ...) more than 1 swaps are possible. So, it's still impossible to give a complete information.
2. The window for alternative moves is too small -- it's possible to write only 2-3 points there. At the same time in some rules (Taraguchi, Yamaguchi, ...) it's necessary sometimes to write 4-5 alternative points. Today I was unable to input in this window the alternative points for two recent games of Moscow cup by Taraguchi and Yamaguchi rules.
3. It's reasonable to have the option "Other" for opening rules. For example, in experimental tournament (1990) that was published already by me, it were individual opening rules for each game. |

Thank you for your suggestions.
I have created a rule type "experimental", which includes all kinds of less known experimental rules.
Now below each game input area there is an "info" box, where can add additional info about special rule games, such as 5 swaps or other, within 15 symbols. I also expanded the size of 5a= box.
I already helped with renaming some more experimental tournaments and games. |
