In this article, I will write about recent changes of www.renju.net website and Blog system of Renjunet. I keep modifying the content of this article by removing old content and adding new items and thoughts. Your comments, suggestions and even bug reports are most welcome here!

Image Editing
Some days ago, RenjuNet host server was upgraded, which allows faster performance and more options for programming. The GD module was upgraded to be above 2.0, so from now on it is finally possible for me to operate with image files properly. Therefore, last night, I modified the photos system of Renjunet, by replacing all the text-links with thumbnails of photos.
At the same time, I implemented the limitation of displayed image sizes - from now on the images will be automatically resized in order to fit the margins of the display area, even if user uploads the photos larger than recommended size. The original file of each is still stored in database, so it will be possible to generate full-size outputs later for the fans of high quality. :)
In blog system, any photo that is wider than 640 pixels, will automatically resized to be exactly 640 pixels for output. If you feel that the server's automatic choice of size influences the quality of your image, then it is recommended to upload the picture that does not exceed 640 pixels - in that case server does not modify the output, and displays the photo exactly as it was uploaded.
The same kind of limits apply for the photos section of RenjuNet web, too - the limit of the width is 720 pixels there. |
Blog Search
In the right lower corner of the Blog system, it is already possible to use basic search tools. Also, the grey titles of three top-10 lists act as links to search page. I will continue improving the search functions later on. Right now we do not have too many topics yet, so the search tools have no real effect. |
Multi-language system
The biggest change of Blog - it is now possible to write topics in any language you like. The non-English topics will not appear in Top10 of "Recent Topics" or "Recent Comments To" or "Most Viewed Topics", but they will appear through the search function in the right lower corner of Blog main page.
Therefore, you can invite your friends to write their blogs even if their English is not good. |
