Correspondence Commission The Correspondence Commission was Established in 1997, by General Assembly. The purpose of the commission was stated in General Assembly protocol in 1997: The Correspondence Commission's task is to investigate and decide eventual new rules for the next (future) WC via e-mail. In fact, it turned out soon that the commission had to handle far more complicated tasks than the above mentioned one. The commission not only prepared the rules, but also made the tournaments work, managing the technical problems as well. There was a time when the Pbmserv (the host server of e-mail WC) crashed, and it was a tough call for the Correspondence Commission to find the good solution in this mess. Anyway, after all the efforts, especially thanking Chairman Igor Sinyov, the Correspondence Commission has proven to be very successful! Now that the tournament system is fully developed, the load of the commission is lighter. However, there is still no good solution for the email WC hosting and adminstrating.
