This photo from a Meijin-final match in Japan is one of 40 photos from the renju world. You are able to see all photos if you choose file "r3pic.zip" below .
Welcome to the home page of the Renju International Federation (RIF). Renju is the professional variant of Go-Moku. For the beginner of the game it is not allowed to make double-threes, double-fours or more than five in a row. Renju also uses sophisticated opening rules. See the file " r1rulhis.doc" below for more information about the rules. This homepage is for all five in a row games for example free-played Go-Moku, Five-In-A-Row, Pente and Renju. If you want to know more about these games you are recommended to look yourself among several files in our home directory ( In files including "sw" the language is Swedish) file://ftp.pi.se/pub/pc/games/renju/ but if you already know that you are specially interested in an introduction ( a FAQ) to renju and other five in a row games including the rules and the history written in Windows Word 6.0 select r1rulhis.doc (64 Kb) and if you want to have a program in which you can watch more than 1000 games (After installing press F1,F8,F3 and browse with the arrows between the games) choose r2dafree.zip(112 Kb) and if you want to look at 40 photos of historical events and famous players choose r3pic.zip(1132 Kb).
You can also find a very good playing program " Renju for Windows" (Try level 1 Dan if you are a good player) if you choose renju.zip (373 Kb).
There are several other five in a row programs to find for example some easier Windows gomoku-programs as gomoku.zip (52 Kb) or gomoku2.zip(372 Kb) or DOS-program pente.zip (20 Kb).
We mostly know DOS and Windows programs, but there are also other programs (If you know about a good program, please, let us know.). You can find them by using an Archie Server ( Just write one of the words Renju, Gomoku or Pente and Press "Do It!") for example MS160 Archie Server Gateway in Norway. You can also find programs or other information about the games by using some search machine for example Lycos.
Maybe you are more theoretically interested in the game. Then maybe you want to see the proof that the beginner always can win when playing free GoMoku.
In case you are relatively new to the Internet, maybe you do not have the programs necessary to be able to use the above mentioned files. Then you are able to choose Pkunzip or WinZip to unzip files ended with zip or Lview to be able to see the photos or Ghostview to be able to see the proof mentioned above. You can find these program files using the Archie Server mentioned above.
Renju has not yet its own newsgroup, but renju and other five in a row games are discussed in the newsgroup rec.games.abstract.
